Bike Culture On First Friday

The folks at LemonDrop are putting on a bicycle culture show for tomorrow’s First Friday Art Walk. Bicycle related art will be on display plus lots of folks on bicycles riding in to take a look. I’ll be there. And I hope to see you there.

The Lemmondrop is located at 416 W. Commercial Street.

The exhibit also includes bicycle frames on display and video showing BMXers and mountain bikers. I’ve also been told there will be a bicycle rack inside the gallery for parking. That means your bicycle becomes a temporary part of the show.

The LemonDrop website lists these confirmed contributors:

  • Brandon Ives & Scotty – custom frames
  • Isaac Neale – Handmade vinyl bags
  • Adam Bowlin, Rogan Howitt, Daniel Zender, John Worcester – posters and other bike-inspired art
  • Meganne Rosen-O’Neal & Clay Bailey – Bike sculptures
  • Bo Laxton – BMX video footage

I also know that local photographer James Radke will have a print on display and a few of his bicycle-inspired sculptures.

Hmmmmm… should you dress up your bicycle? Should you dress up? Could this give us an opportunity to begin a Cycle Chic movement in Springfield?

Think about it.
