Now that warmer weather is here, I’m making the switch from my backpack to my messenger pannier. The messenger pannier allows me to stay a bit cooler — nothing clinging to my back.
I’m also slowing down. A little extra speed during the colder months keeps me warmer. Now, a big dose of lazy keeps me cooler.
Further, I make wardrobe changes in the spring. I break out my nylon and cotton shirts. I’m especially fond of the fishing shirts made by World Wide Sportsman and Columbia available at Bass Pro Shops.

I like the messenger pannier setup. One of our sheltered homeless bicycle recipients told me he needed something like that for grocery shopping. What’s the manufacturer and model of bag, please?

Jonathan… While I can carry more stuff in my backpack, I think the reason I stick to it has a lot to do with college culture. Backpacks are simply ubiquitous. Perhaps I will make the switch for good.

) Of course I was going for the Flying Circus “The Cycling Tour” sketch kind of thing. They also serve as a useful piece to announce to the Fixed Geared crowd that I am far too lame to hang out with them.
