Bummer, Man

I really really really wanted the long U.S. Census form this time. No such luck.

I wanted certain of my demographics to be counted (to name a few):

  • 3-person, middle-class family owning 1 car
  • Commuting by bicycle and on foot
  • Living within 1 mile of work
  • Wife works in a home office

I wonder what will change for us by 2020.

I agree; what a bummer just filling out the standard form. Was yours bilingual Spanish-English?

There is no long form this time. It was scrapped in favor of the American Community Survey. http://2010.census.gov/2010census/how/about-the-form.php

The ACS is nearly 30 pages long. Apparently it takes HOURS to fill out.

Thanks for the news about the ACS. I checked the form online, and the Census Bureau estimates it takes (only) 38 minutes to complete. http://www.census.gov/acs/www/SBasics/SQuest/SQuest1.htm

Thanks for the updated information! It seems a person can actually receive both. Hmmmm…
