Source of Global Warming Found!

I took a bicycle ride around downtown Naples, Florida today to check out the infrastructure and the traffic zeitgiest. Afterward, I stopped by McCabe’s Irish Pub for a lunch of fish ‘n chips washed down with a pint of Guinness. If you’re going to burn calories instead of carbon, then ya gotta fuel up right :-)

While eating lunch I discovered the source of global warming. Now today is a bit chilly by SW Florida standards — mid 50s. And it’s a bit cloudly and breezy. Considering the weather in Springfield today — snow — this weather is just plain balmy.

To ensure that customers remain happy and comfortable, restaurants hereabouts employ heaters, which you can see in the following picture.

Man, these things will fry you to a crackly crunch.

I had to sit on the far side of my table to avoid sweating. And it was a relief after lucnh to get on my Brompton and cool off with a couple more laps around downtown.

Now I’m going to edit the video I took and try to post it this afternoon. My internet connection remains a bit ratty, so don’t hold your breath.

If the connection gives you fits, you can always upload the video when you get here tomorrow.

Heaters in the mid 50s? That’s like the perfect outdoor temperature.

That’s the south. 50 is cold, when it’s normally 80-100 with the highest humidity on earth 9 months out of the year.

Andy, Come to Houston in the summer if you like that :-) We have outdoor air conditioners on the street :-)

I debate the value of it. On one hand it’s global warming in action alright, but on the other hand I have collapsed from heat before and really appreciated those little stations.
