Anyway, the items from the website link might make a nice addition to your plan. I’d add small “Home of the One Mile Solution” signs underneath the main advisory signs.

What the town in the link did might also work in Springfield. A “home of the one mile solution” under each main advisory would make a nice addition.

Steve… I have more data, but they are “reported” figures, which don’t always tell the whole story.

Bicycle injury crashes:
2008: 51
2009: 49

Total bicycle crashes:
2008: 71
2009: 51

At the moment, we’re in no danger of going down the bicycle lane path. The STAR Team and the City are all about our new route system (a numbered, signed system) and sharrows.

So, how many bicycle crashes were there? I see there was one bicycle fatality and there were 7436 traffic crashes. Were 7400 of these bicycles or 36 of them? I’m guessing Springfield has very little idea how many bike crashes there are because it’s rare for them to get into FARs or be reported by other means.

I could find no information to indicate if non fatal bike crashes were up, down, or about the same. This is really important info if Springfield goes down the path (no pun intended) of bike lanes.

Of course, I’m preaching to the choir here…
