In my work as a paramedic, I rarely see an "accident" that didn't originate from someone first making an absurd decision to act carelessly. Forgiveness is divine, and personal... it is not the domain of the justice system. If we are ever going to get a grip on traffic justice in this country, we are going to have to use the courts (as one of many tools) to demand careful and responsible driving as a requirement to have the privilege. 15mph over the speed limit (especially with reduced sight lines) is irresponsible.
