Alex... Well, yes. Perhaps a better way to put it is: "A day without spending money outside what's already been automatically set up or otherwise accounted for as a routine of owning property, etc." But that just doesn't trip off the tongue :-)

Going a day without spending money is impossible in our society. A pure and total fiction.

I am not buying anything today either, except for my usual cups of coffee. (Sorry, but I'm an addict!) You might find this essay from my "LBS" interesting, especially considering that they are themselves a business.

I normally avoid the consumeristic nonsense of this season, and especially this day. But procrastination bit me today. I needed to buy an external hard drive, shoulda done it weeks ago. Yesterday, I spent the day clipping and cataloging video from last week's work. Sure enough, I ran out of hard drive space.

So today I had a choice: go to the store and be able to get my work done, or spend the day backing stuff up on DVDs and get no work done.

I very much enjoyed parking my bike easily while the hoards drove endlessly around the lot and then walked from the far reaches of it. I was probably in and out before they got to the front door.
