It’s a “bargain” only because we subsidize the heck out of it (direct tax breaks, military adventures, etc) and don’t include the externalized costs (pollution, climate change, etc) in the price.

It’s true. You get a lot of energy for your gasoline dollar. Shame, though, so much of it is lost to the inefficiencies of the internal combustion engine and the use of personal vehicles that weigh more than two tons.

But who cares? It’s cheap enough. This is America. We can afford to be wasteful. For now.
