Carbon Trace Update

I’m out of town attending a writers’ conference. I’m giving a presentation on media ethics (see my PowerPoint slides here). I did not bring a bicycle with me. But there’s no time to go exploring the local scene anyway.

Consequently, I haven’t posted anything since I left town on Wednesday.

Here’s a repeat of upcoming events:

  • I’ll be attending a bicycle advocacy workshop in Little Rock later this month sponsored by the Alliance for Biking & Walking. Several of us from the STAR Team (yes, the thing we were recently calling the START committee that used to be the Sustainable Transportation Committee of Ozark Greenways) are going and taking bicycles. I’ll be reporting from the from the workshop if I find an internet connection.
  • I’ll be presenting a draft pamphlet to the STAR Team at our October meeting aimed at helping developers properly place bicycle racks.

I’ve also recently submitted a short article to Momentum Magazine about the good things going on in Columbia, Missouri. The focus is on law enforcement training and outreach. They’re doing a couple of interesting things that I’ll discuss here shortly, e.g. a traffic stop program targeting bicyclists riding at night without lights. Instead of a ticket, volunteers working with the police install a free light.
