This British PSA about texting and driving is getting a lot of attention.
This does not portray a traffic accident. It is a crash. It is the predictable result of stupid and stunningly self-centered behavior.
And, as is all too often the case, the self-centered miscreant that caused the crash lives and others die.
This Friday a law takes effect in Missouri that makes it illegal for drivers under the age of 22 to text and drive.
My questions for the Missouri legislature: Do you suppose that people older than 21 are capable of texting and driving? Do you suppose you may have just given them permission?

Powerful. Virtual reality. I like that it goes on for over 4 minutes.
I think we should put the resources of our gaming industry to use building a total-recall-like device that enacted a nightmare like this for teen drivers and remedial driving school candidates. Maybe if they had to live an hour or so worth of consequences of 30 seconds of bad decision-making it would inhibit them from the behavior.
Maybe.
Or maybe we’re the only ones wired that way?

I think that people just need to commit to each other to not do it. That’s what I have done with my friends and I think that is the only way to stop this dangerous activity.
