This just in from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:
Today, the Missouri Tourism Commission voted 7-0 to make cuts elsewhere in its budget rather than to sacrifice the $1.5 million dedicated to the tour. Commission members said the race is too important to economic development in the state, and it’s too close to its start, to cancel it now.
Not out of the woods yet. But looking better than yesterday.
I so don’t care about bicycle racing as a sport, but it is apparently a big draw for Missouri. And I like anything that gets people thinking, and feeling good about, bicycles.

I could have fully understood cutting it earlier in the year but it’s just too close now. I certainly don’t expect to see it next year though.
