Oh, yes — I love 3-lane roads.
The City of Springfield has been working on Grant Ave. recently (and Kimbrough) to turn its 4-lane urban core sections into 3-lane sections. I rode it from Grand to Commercial — a smooth, easy trip of a little more than two miles. This creates an excellent north-south corridor on the west side for reaching all of the downtown areas.
I chose background music for this video instead of my usual yammering about obvious stuff
One note: On the bridge you’ll see what appears to be a bicycle lane. It is not. This line merely indicates a shoulder area. I maintain positions of either 4 feet from the curb (shared lanes) or in the right tire track (narrow lanes) throughout this ride. I’m traveling 10 mph (according to my bicycle computer thingy) because that’s as fast as I want to go holding a camera.
