LATE BREAKING NEWS: Ozark Greenways has canceled its event for this evening — described below — because of the bad weather. Rain and thunderstorms now. More of the same expected this evening. The Art Walk is still a go. And the Art Bikes are still on display. I may hang around and try to pass out a few booklets.
OK, so the weather isn’t cooperating. But Ozark Greenways and the Sustainable Transportation Committee will be set up on the Square downtown for the First Friday Art Walk. We’ll have the first copies of “Drive Less, Live More” available. The booklet is free! Drop by between 6:00 and 9:00 this evening.

The booklet was designed by MSU graphics design student Annie DeGraff. On behalf of the entire committee: Thanks, Annie, for a job well done!
UPDATE: From the Ozark Greenways press release:
Ozark Greenways will kick off promotion and registration for “Bike, Bus, Walk to Work Week” during First Friday ArtWalk downtown on the Square from 6 – 9 p.m., Friday, May 1.
There will be information about registering for “Bike, Bus, Walk to Work Week”, bike safety information, and maps of Springfield’s current alternative transportation options – including the on-street bike route system, the greenway trails, and bus route system. There will also be live music and a city bus on site to demonstrate the convenient bike racks on the front of all the buses. Andy’s Frozen Custard will be given to the first 100 people who come by. Valet bike parking will also be available on the Square, so people are encouraged to come to ArtWalk by bike, or on foot or bus.
Art bikes designed by local artists will be displayed in nine downtown businesses, with many of them being auctioned for a donation to Ozark Greenways. Locations include: Nonna’s Italian Restaurant, Good Girl Art, Moxie Cinema, Staxx Apparel, Fresh Gallery, The Park Central Square Library location, Queen City Cycles, The Coffee Ethic, and the Downtown YMCA location.
