Columbia has been named a silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists. Congratulations on being the first city to earn a bicycle-friendly honor in Missouri.
Will Springfield be next? We’re working on it. If you would like to help, leave a comment or send e-mail.
Robert Johnson, an MSU graduate and now education coordinator for PedNet, is writing a bicycle column for the Columbia Daily Tribune. I’ll be discussing his first column soon. Oh, and Robert is a reader of Carbon Trace and a frequent commenter.

Congrats to Columbia, and Missouri. In Ohio we are still waiting for our first BFC. Cleveland did get an honorable mention once.
Here in the Dayton region we don’t have any mayors who passionate about cycling and promoting this mode in their city. So we sit while others pass us by.

It’s not yet clear to me what effect this will have on our advocacy efforts. On a positive note: The new utility bicycling booklet is at the printer now and will be ready for the First Friday Art Walk this week. Hoo-ray!
