Today’s video picks up about a block north of where the Holland north to MSU video left off.
MSU Bikeway to Downtown from acline on Vimeo.
This ride takes you the long way through campus as noted in the video. But you get to see some of the main parts of the bikeway. I stopped filming just before reaching downtown because I want to deal with it in a separate video.
The video also shows a very sleepy Saturday on campus. So it’s easy to see the infrastructure. Making this video during the week would be dangerous. While you can clearly see marked lanes for pedestrains and cyclists, apparently no one else can see them. Students walk and ride wherever they want without regard to what’s indicated at their feet. I used to be grumpy about it. Now, I’m just resigned to it. Although I make a point of not riding on campus sidewalks.

Ah, you are bringing back memories! I graduated from Missouri State in 2004.
I too found the bikeway to be just another sidewalk and during the times that I needed it (between classes) it was nearly unusable. That was especially true right by Plaster and the Karls Hall area of campus. I am ashamed to admit that I often made a point to barely brush pedestrians with my shoulder as I went past in hopes that they might realize, “oh yeah, i’m on the bikeway.”
Its really my hope that my wife and I can move back to Springfield someday. I really love that campus and town quite a bit.
You forgot to mention that there are also bus routes throughout campus that only busses run on in a continuous circle. That campus was much better planned then the University of Missouri campus but then again the MU campus is about 80 years older.
Did you receive your booklet yet?
Good Job!

Posted 19 Jan 2009 at 4:12 pm ¶Alex… I’m using an Aiptek DV4500. It’s cheapie you can buy at Target. I like because I it’s small, so I carry it all the time in my backpack. I’m using Windows Movie Maker. Nothing fancy. Plenty good for the internet.

I’ll check out the Aiptek. Do you think the Vivemo platform is better than YouTube?
