That’s right– I haven’t posted any pictures of me and my new bicycle yet. But here’s something better: Kid Carbon Trace on her new bicycle– a hot pink Hello Kitty cruiser by Nirve.
She saw this in the bike shop window during the Taste of Springfield festival on Saturday. They were just closing up for the day, but one of the fellows there was nice enough to let her take a quick test ride. It was love at first sight.
This is the first bicycle she’s ever been excited about. I put her off over the weekend saying that I didn’t have the money right now and blah blah blah– all the usual excuses. Ah, but all the while the plot thickened. I bought it at lunch time today and arranged to have one of the bike shop crew ride it to her school. I knew after school today she’d begin working me. I’d be able to claim–entirely accurately–that “there’s just no way we can go downtown to get that bike.”
Man, I got the Dad thing down

I’ve no idea what it is about that bike that just puts a huge grin on my face. Or maybe it’s the story that goes with it – you definitely get top marks for your skulduggery!

I haven’t gotten into the beach cruiser mindset yet but am considering it.

Cruisers have been getting a foot between the door over here. One example: my very much grown up friend Kim. Giddy as a kid.
